It took me 16 hours to get to and from the Madrid, Spain temple. 40- 50+ mph winds threw debris and trees on the train tracks. Facades fell off buildings, tiles were flung everywhere and the wind howled and shook everything in its path… but the house of the Lord stood still. Inside the temple we heard a sweet silence and music.
The Lord said to Elijah: “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”
Inside the temple God's presence was found in the quiet moments not in the dramatic displays of devastation outside. I have a testimony that God protects his flock and is the Peacegiver. Just moments after stepping into the storm, a taxi appeared to take me to the train station. And while we were stuck hours on the train tracks, the peace I felt in the Lord’s house remained in my heart. 💜
