Just a reminder, VMC club is Tomorrow Thursday, 5/7 at 6pm at the EAA Chapter 431 hangar.
Attendees will earn WINGS Credits. Attending these sessions can also potentially save you money on your insurance while helping you become a better pilot.
The VMC Club scenario this month is titled "Starved of Attention" and was inspired by an actual flight as follows: our pilot is flying a Cherokee Six on a 100-mile VFR cross-country flight.
Our VMC/IMC Club Coordinators are asking attendees to think about personal scenarios that people have experienced recently.

Are you interesting in learning to fly but don’t know where to start? Currently in training but need to get the written test done, or just looking to refresh your knowledge and be a safer pilot. EAA 431 Brodhead Chapter is here to help!

We are launching our Summer 2026 Ground School at EAA 431! Starting Wednesday June 10 at 6:30pm until 8pm. Weekly classes (every Wed) for 12 weeks. The class will be taught by EAA 431 Board Member and CFI-CFII’s Astrid Melms and Spencer Anderson.

Cost for the 12 week session is $50 for public $25 for EAA Chapter 431 members.

Our Monthly Chapter Gathering is Tuesday May 5 at 7pm at the EAA 431 Hangar. This months guest is Susan Dacy sharing her experience as an airshow pilot with her Stearman “Big Red”and American Airlines Captain.

This month we will be having dinner before the gathering from 6-7. Thanks to Mark and Mary Johnson. Come early for food and camaraderie! We will be celebrating our own Cinco de Mayo gathering at the EAA Chapter meeting this 5th of May.

We will be providing Mexican Tacos(Carnitas) with all the fixings

It’s official! Our VMC/IMC Club meetings are now listed on the FAA Safety page. Attending these informative sessions will get you WINGS credit and possibly save you $ on your insurance as well as continue to learn and make you a better pilot. See you this Thursday at 6pm at the EAA 431 Chapter building in Brodhead.

We are looking for interested people for an upcoming Ground School at EAA 431 in Brodhead. The session will be 10-12 weeks long and will meet weekly in the evenings. Tentative start date late May to early June. Cost will be $50 for the session or $25 for EAA 431 Chapter members (2026 membership cost is $15). The scenario this month is titled "Bumpy Final" describes an actual flight as follows: Our pilot is flying a Piper PA-28 Dakota on a 100-mile flight with a friend. While conditions are VFR, there are some low clouds and showers along the route causing some deviation

IMC Club scenario is titled "Surprises at Night" describes an actual flight as follows: During a night IFR flight in actual IMC in the Midwest, our pilot encounters what appears to be unexpected turbulence, and also notices some odd behavior by the autopilot.

EAA Chapter 431 has been approved to administer a Ray Scholarship for 2026. The scholarship application is online at EAA431.org. Applications are being accepted until 4/30. Please go to the site for instructions and immediately apply for an FAA medical certificate and Student pilot certificate if you are planning to apply for this scholarship.
