🍂 Colorado’s best season is almost here.

Fall in the Rockies moves fast. Golden aspens, cool mornings, snow-dusted peaks and some of the best scenic driving of the year can all show up within a matter of weeks — sometimes within the same day.

We put together a quick Colorado Fall Adventure Guide with a few of our favorite drives for photographers, what to expect from fall color, and a few things to keep in mind before heading into the high country.

One tip from people who spend a lot of time on Colorado backroads: don’t get too attached to a “peak color” date. Elevation, weather and location can make conditions completely different just a few miles apart. Go explore, take the camera, and see what you find.

And remember — fall in the mountains can turn into winter surprisingly quickly. Check current road, fire and weather conditions before heading out.

Some of the best views are the ones you have to work a little harder to find.

One of our guests sent us this shot of Sting tucked into the red rock outside Moab — framed by sandstone and looking right at home in the Utah desert.
