Beginning today, September 3, the traffic pattern altitude at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport will increase from 6,500 feet to 6,700 feet mean sea level (MSL) approximately 1,000 feet above ground level (AGL).

The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners and the Jefferson County Airport Advisory Board signed off on a letter from RMMA requesting this change from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in January 2025 to bring RMMA’s traffic pattern altitude in line with the standard 1,000 feet AGL and create a more uniform operating environment. The additional altitude also provides pilots greater safety margins and more time for decision-making in the event of an emergency.

The change takes effect September 3 and will also be reflected in RMMA’s Voluntary Noise Abatement Plan (VNAP).

Hosted by HDR, the 9th Annual Run for the Angels 5K will bring together runners, walkers, pilots, aviation enthusiasts, families, and community leaders at the picturesque Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colorado, on September 26, 2026, to benefit Angel Flight West.

Held in the vibrant Broomfield/Denver area, this unique runway 5K is one of the most family-friendly events around, attracting over 300 participants along with enthusiastic spectators and volunteers. Those joining us in person will love the unforgettable thrill of racing on an airport runway! Can’t join us in Colorado?
