Two of my favorite places to visit and photograph are college campuses and historic churches.

Living in Indianapolis means I'm lucky to have several beautiful universities within an easy drive. Recently, I took a day trip to explore the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette.

Every campus has its own personality—its architecture, traditions, green spaces, and history. They're some of my favorite places to wander with a camera and simply take it all in.

Have a favorite college campus you've visited? I'd love to add it to my list.

Changing of the guard. A unique experience that I thought I didn't need to see because I had seen it in London.

They will wear different uniforms and does happen every hour on the hour. It was close to my hotel, Ergon Bakehouse, so I stopped and watched several times.

I highly recommend Ergon Bakehouse for 5-star service and is above an actual bakery. Breakfast was great and they do also have a walk-up bakery window.

I had heard mixed feelings about Athens, but I fell in love with Athens as well.

I fell in love with Greece.

The people were incredibly warm and welcoming, the scenery was everything I'd hoped for, and every corner seemed to have another postcard-worthy view.

Although I enjoyed visiting both Mykonos and Santorini, I found myself drawn to Mykonos just a little more. Maybe it was the lighter crowds, the extra room to wander the winding streets, or simply the relaxed island atmosphere—all while still offering the iconic whitewashed buildings and stunning blue waters that make the Greek islands so special.

I was only here for a few hours as a stop on my Mediterranean cruise, but it didn't take long for Mykonos to leave a lasting impression.

"I'll be back."

Here's hoping that chapter comes sooner rather than later. 💙

📖 Chapter 6 | June Reading Wrap-Up

One of the reasons I chose the name Scenic Chapters Travel is because I've always believed books and travel have something in common.

Both take us somewhere new.

This month I spent time with lifelong friends, wandered into a cozy pancake house, unraveled family secrets, solved a few mysteries, and even found one book that simply wasn't for me.

June by the numbers:

📚 7 books read
⭐ 4.1 average rating
🏆 3 five-star reads

My favorites this month were Between Friends, The Ghostwriter, and Too Late—three very different stories, but each one kept me turning the pages for different reasons.

And yes...even readers have an occasional miss. The Vacation just wasn't my cup of coffee, and that's okay. Not every book is meant for every reader.

One of my favorite parts of reading is that every book becomes part of the chapter you're living in.

What's the best book you've read lately? I'd love to add a few recommendations to my summer reading list. 📚

In my backyard...Downtown Indianapolis.

Sometimes the best adventures are right in your own backyard.

I spent an evening wandering through downtown Indianapolis and was reminded how much there is to appreciate here. From the historic beauty of the Indiana Statehouse to the lights and public art around the Circle, downtown has a way of slowing you down and encouraging you to look a little closer.

One of my favorite surprises was how walkable everything felt. In just a few blocks, I found architecture, baseball, public spaces, city views, and plenty of spots to simply sit and take it all in.

I am always down for a baseball game as you probably have noticed.

I spent last Saturday exploring Buckeye Lake in Ohio with my family.

I had not been here since I was a teenager and we would go waterskiing and tubing on the lake.

We rented a pontoon boat, cruised around the lake, docked for ice cream, and simply enjoyed the day together.

Travel isn't always about discovering something new. Sometimes, it is about rediscovering a place you haven't been in a while.

I needed to get out of the house on Friday and decided to take an impromptu trip to Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne is the second largest city in Indiana and also a very doable day trip from Indianapolis.

A few gems that I discovered were:

⚾ A beautiful downtown ballpark home to the Fort Wayne Tincaps. Next door is a rooftop bar that overlooks the park.

🎨 Colorful street art tucked throughout downtown

🚶‍♀️ A surprisingly walkable city with plenty of spots to wander

🌳 Parks and riverfront areas perfect for relaxing with a book or simply slowing down

🍹 An excellent late lunch and cocktail at Proximo

Just a reminder that the next chapter can be a simple as getting in the car and going.
