Most people don’t feel off because they’re doing everything wrong.

They feel off because their days are full and everything becomes reactive.

You wake up in a hotel room, head straight into meetings, grab coffee instead of food and by mid-afternoon you’re just trying to push through the rest of the day.

Or maybe you’re at home with a packed schedule and realize you haven’t eaten or had water all day.

After working with leaders for over 15 years, one thing I hear consistently is:
“I just want to feel better.”

Meal plans can feel complicated and overwhelming.
Diets can be restrictive and not work long-term.

That’s why I created something simple:
The 5-Minute Reset.

It’s a practical guide to help you:
• Check in with what you need
• Support your energy in real time
• Stay steady during busy, unpredictable days

Because wellness shouldn’t only work when life slows down.

If you’d like a copy of the guide, comment “RESET” below or send me a message and I’ll share it with you.

There was a time when I didn’t feel good in my own body.

I was working long days, traveling, and focused on everything and everyone else.

From the outside, it probably looked like everything was okay. But I didn’t feel like myself.

That’s what led me to become a dietitian and travel coach.

Over the years, working with clients, I’ve noticed something powerful.
Every single person I’ve worked with has said the same thing.
“I just want to feel better.”

And I get it.

It’s not that people don’t know what to do.

It’s that life doesn’t always support it.

That’s why I created Rest By The Willow.

The name comes from a memory that’s always stayed with me.

Growing up, there was a willow tree outside our home. I remember my afternoon naptime and hearing the breeze move through the leaves.

It felt calm, peaceful, and comforting.
I felt that as a child.

And I think that’s what so many of us are looking for as adults.
A way to feel better, even in the middle of busy schedules, work, travel, and family life.

That’s what I hope to help create.

Not perfection.
Just support that works in real life, at work, at home, and while traveling.

What helps you feel most at ease when life gets busy?

I’ll be sharing a simple guide later this week with a few ways to start feeling better in your day-to-day; at work, at home, and while traveling.

I wish more people who travel for work knew this:

🌿Your schedule isn’t who you are.

For a long time, I've heard clients share with me:

“I eat this way because I travel.”
“I don’t have time to take care of myself.”
“My schedule is just too full.”

And honestly, I don't blame them for making excuses, rather I comfort them for knowing a full schedule is their reality.

I propose we explore a new way to think about how they manage eating and self-care.
One of my favorite questions is,
"How can I show up today?"

We also talk about:
How do I actually want to feel?
And am I doing anything to support that?

Many have shared they have never thought about this before.

So we start small and create goals like making time to eat before starting the day, committing to move daily (whether its five minutes or 50), or being a little more intentional with taking a break.

Not perfect, just better.

And over time, everything starts to feel different. Most noticeable changes shared are usually more energy, less stress, and more clarity on the journey of wellness rather than expectation for perfection.

If your schedule feels overwhelming right now, I get it.

But you don’t have to change everything.
Just start with one small thing this week.

Have you ever come home from a trip and thought, “I need a vacation from my vacation”?

It’s so easy to pack every day with activities, trying to make the most of the time.

But the purpose of a vacation is to rest, not come home feeling more exhausted.

Over time, we’ve started doing things a little differently when we travel as a family.

We plan:
🌿Slow mornings with breakfast, coffee, and time outside
🌿One morning activity and one afternoon activity
🌿Time in between to just relax

We also think ahead about meals and snacks, because when you’re hungry and trying to figure out what to eat in the moment, everything feels harder.

(We’ve all had that “hangry” moment!)

Having a simple plan helps us stay energized and actually enjoy where we are.

And we still leave room to explore, as some of our favorite places have come from asking locals for recommendations.

It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Just a little more intentional.

Because when you feel better, the whole trip feels different.

If you’re planning a trip, what’s one thing you’d do differently this time?
I’ll be sharing a simple guide this week with a few of my favorite tips if you want more ideas.

There’s something really special about giving yourself a little extra time during a business trip.

Not to do more but to slow down to enjoy a meal without rushing, to explore a new place and to rest.

For a long time, travel felt like go-go-go for me with full schedules, meetings, getting from one place to the next.

But over time, I started doing something different.

🌿Whenever I can, I add a little extra time to visit family or friends, go for a hike, watch a game, or try local restaurants

And it changes everything.

I come home feeling more rested and present. And more like myself.
It doesn't feel like I need a few days to recover.

Those small moments matter more than we think.
They’re not a luxury. They’re part of taking care of yourself.

Studies continue to show that incorporating rest and recovery into work travel improves energy, focus, and overall productivity upon return.

Do you have a favorite place where you’ve stayed a little longer and really enjoyed it?

A lot of people I work with feel like they’ve “tried everything" and still don’t feel their best.

They want to eat better, stay consistent, and take care of their health.

But life gets busy with work meetings, travel, and family schedules. So when they start making progress, it’s hard to keep going.

One of the biggest challenges?
Busy workdays and travel.
That’s usually when everything feels harder.

So instead of trying to do more, we focus on making things simpler.

Looking at their schedule and asking:
What’s realistic here?

Maybe that means:
🌿Having quick, grab-and-go options that provide sustainable energy in the afternoon
🌿Planning meals and snack times that align with typical eating patterns
🌿Providing menus and restaurant options in advance so anyone that needs modifications can plan prior to meetings or travel

These may seem like small things, but they make a big difference.

People start to feel more steady, more prepared, and less overwhelmed.

And instead of just getting through the day, they actually experience it.

Before your next trip, try this:
Think about your last one.

Not just where you went, but how you felt.

When I work with clients who travel a lot, we don’t start from scratch.
We look back.

🌿What went well?
🌿What felt off?
🌿When did your energy drop?

We talk about things like what foods worked, when you were able to eat, and how your schedule impacted your energy.

And then we make it simple for next time.

Maybe it’s:
🌿Bringing a few snacks
🌿Looking at menus ahead of time
🌿Planning when you’ll actually have time to eat

Some clients even keep notes in a journal if they travel to the same places often.
And it makes a difference because they feel more prepared, more at ease. and more like they can actually experience the trip, not just get through it.

What’s one thing from your last trip you’d want to do differently next time?

Almost half of business travelers say their eating habits are disrupted when they travel.

Which makes sense. When schedules are full and food options are unknown, you end up just trying to figure it out as you go.

And that affects how you feel.
Clients share with me that their energy drops, focus becomes harder, and they feel like they're just trying to get through the day.

It’s not about doing more, it’s about having a little more support built in.

That’s the work I focus on while I'm helping organizations create simple, realistic strategies so people can feel better at work, at home, and while traveling.

Have you ever come home from a conference feeling completely drained?

Not just tired, but like you were just trying to get through each day?

One thing I hear often from the women and professionals I work with is that they don’t know what food will be available when they travel.

And while that might not seem like a big deal at first, it can create a lot of stress.

Especially for someone managing a health condition, digestive issues, or even just trying to feel their best.

So they’re left trying to figure it out in the moment.
They might end up skipping meals or eating what’s available and hoping it works.

If they aren't fueled with what they need, they are losing energy halfway through the day.
And that affects how they experience everything.

🌿But something as simple as knowing what will be served ahead of time can make a big difference.

It gives people the chance to plan, bring what they need, and feel more supported.

Feeling better shouldn’t depend on perfect conditions. It should be possible in real life, at work, at home, and while traveling.

If you’ve ever felt this way while traveling, what made it hardest?

I came across a stat recently that stuck with me:

88% of employers say health and wellness benefits are a top priority. (SHRM 2025 Employee Benefits Survey)

At the same time, there’s a growing focus on leadership development.

Which made me think…

If both of these things matter so much, why do so many people still feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and like they’re just getting through the day?

From what I see, it’s not a lack of effort.
It’s that wellness often isn’t supported in a way that fits real life.

🌿Long workdays
🌿Busy schedules
🌿Travel
🌿Family responsibilities

And somewhere in all of that, people are expected to “take care of themselves.”

But how we feel physically and mentally plays a huge role in how we show up in our work, in our leadership, and in our relationships.

That’s why I care so much about helping people find realistic ways to support themselves
at work, at home, and while traveling.

Not perfectly, but consistently.

Because when you feel better, everything else starts to feel a little easier.

What’s one thing that helps you feel more supported during a busy week?

One of the biggest misconceptions about my work as a dietitian is that I focus on calorie counting, macros, or rigid meal plans.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

There’s a lot of noise in the nutrition space right now with new diets, programs, and recommendations showing up daily.

I can understand why people feel confused about what to follow.

And over time, many have been led to believe that the answer is a quick fix.

But in my experience, that’s not what actually helps people feel better.

The real work is much simpler and more personal, not a cookie cutter plan.

Whether I’m working with an individual or an organization, I start by understanding goals, schedules, travel demands, preferences, and real-life constraints.

From there, we focus on:
🌿What to include, not just what to avoid
🌿How to enjoy and experience food
🌿How to sustain energy and focus throughout the day
🌿Small, realistic actions that build over time
🌿Aligning habits with work, home, and travel

When nutrition works in real life, that's when sustainable change happens.

People feel more steady and clear throughout the day and have the energy to show up fully at work, at home, and while traveling.

That’s the difference between following a plan and actually feeling better.

Where do you see the biggest gap right now between the nutrition advice people hear and what actually works in their daily work and travel?
