✂️🎉 What an afternoon at Burnet Municipal Airport!

Crosby Flying Services LLC and Austin Aviation celebrated our recent memberships and collaborations with the Burnet Chamber of Commerce and the Marble Falls Area Chamber of Commerce today with a Joint Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and the Highland Lakes community came out to celebrate with us!

Look at airplanes. Touch airplanes. Talk about airplanes. And NETWORK. ✈️

How many business networking events include children? This one did... and they loved every minute of it.

ＴＯＤＡＹ！ Ribbon cutting takes place at 3:15'ish. Snacks, beverages and Ice Cream social to follow. Tour the FBO - tour the airport! W**e tasting by 7 Creeks Vineyard. WW2 bird (T-6 Texan) will be on display alongside a modern Pipistrel Alpha trainer. Helicopter flyover to accompany the "snip" of the scissors! Event is 3 to 5pm, THIS afternoon. :-)

𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩 1️⃣ in our "𝓓𝓲𝓭 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀?" Series of Crosby FBO operated locations... (tomorrow: KPEQ - Pecos, TX)
𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 (𝗞𝗚𝗖𝗞) — 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘀
Garden City quite literally talked its way into aviation history: in 1941 the Chamber of Commerce shipped Washington an elaborate promotional booklet, and boosters lobbied for 18 months - even compiling weather data to prove southwest Kansas skies were as flyable as San Antonio's. The Army bit. Built in 1942 as Garden City Army Airfield (surveyors staked the runways in a ripe wheat field after farmers threshed a strip for them), it trained basic cadets in BT-13 Valiants and twin-engine students in Cessna UC-78s, with WASPs serving there as engineering test pilots in 1944. After the war it became a storage depot - in July 1945, 1,456 surplus airplanes sat parked on the prairie, each kept ready to fly away within 72 hours. The city took the field over in 1948, and two WWII runways and a wartime hangar are still in use today. Its most famous day may be 9/11, when three diverted airliners landed here and passengers climbed down a decades-old staircase built for a visit by President Eisenhower - topped with a stepladder because it was too short. Crosby Flying Services, LLC was proud to stand alongside CareFlite, AST, CAF, Austin Aviation, representatives from the City of Burnet, our Fire & EMS community, Seton Hospital, and the BMQ Airport Board for the groundbreaking ceremony of CareFlite Team 7's new base... right here in the Highland Lakes Region of the Texas Hill Country.

CareFlite CEO Jason Schweback addressed the gathering with the company's Bell 407 on the ramp, while the newest medevac in the CareFlite fleet — an Airbus MBB-BK 117 D-3 flew in for the occasion. Our KBMQ team was honored to provide refueling support for today's flights.

CareFlite Team 7's presence at Burnet Municipal strengthens air medical coverage for our entire region, and Crosby Flying Services, LLC is proud to support Team 7 and their lifesaving mission.
