Today is African Penguin Awareness Day! 🐧💙
Did you know African penguins are at risk of functional extinction in the wild by 2035? Overfishing, climate change, and habitat threats are contributing to their rapid population decline. Thankfully, our partners at AZA SAFE and SANCCOB are working to protect African penguins and support their populations in South Africa.
So, how can you help? Start by getting to know our colony here at Adventure Aquarium! 🐧 Our penguins serve as ambassadors for their species, helping guests connect with these incredible animals and understand why protecting their wild counterparts matters.
Every visit makes a difference, too! A portion of your ticket supports Adventure Aquarium ACTS, our conservation initiative that donates directly to our partner organizations working to protect wildlife.
Our newest additions, Duffy, Oscar, and Scrappy, are growing up right before our eyes, and we love sharing their journey with you! 💙 By learning about and caring for the penguins in our colony, we hope to inspire that same care for African penguins in the wild. Because the more we care, the more we can do to help them thrive.
