Spread the JOY ~ Weekdays April 13th to April 30th, 2026
DAFFODIL FESTIVAL ~ Downtown Candor April 25th, 2026 in Candor, NY is a private property open on limited dates for the public to view tens of thousands of daffodils in bloom. The 2026 dates:
Public WEEKENDS April 18th through May 3rd, 10 to 5pm
"Spread the JOY" - Volunteer WEEKDAYS April 2

0th through April 30th, 2026 - 9am to 4pm at 292 Candor Hill Road. DAFFODIL FESTIVAL - Please note that although it was inspired by our event, to honor the late Joy Zamoiski (our Mom), and most recently the late Nancy Zamoiski (the brainchild of the daffodil display),
the Candor Chamber of Commerce Daffodil Festival – featuring vendors, food and more – is a completely separate, one day event, held downtown at the Spencer Avenue Ball Fields on April 25th, 2026. We send down thousands of daffodils for the Festival so you can get a peek of the more than 200 varieties up at 292 Candor Hill Road. "SPREAD THE JOY" - An extension of Daffodil Daze weekends where you can volunteer in the effort that distributes thousands of daffodil flowers to nursing homes, hospitals, hospices, elderly housing, and others. Come any day of the week to help with this effort. We need any number of pickers, packers and drivers to Spread the JOY. HOW WE STARTED
In the fall of 2008, we planted 12,575 daffodil bulbs in celebration of our mom's 85th birthday in April. We surprised her by spelling out her name (JOY) in 32-foot-high letters made from 1000 daffodils. Spring 2009 became the first year we officially welcomed the public to see the daffodils in bloom. The positive responses we received prompted us to continue opening every year since. It all started around 1974 when our mother started planting daffodils on the pond bank in anticipation of building their retirement home. There are over 1400 distinct clumps of daffodils on the pond bank, some of which are several feet across. Over the decades we have divided and spread these clumps. A very conservative estimate of how many daffodils were in the pond area is 5 to 6,000. In addition, we have purchased and planted at least 62,000 additional daffodils. Daffodils multiply as they grow, making the number of daffodils in our fields an estimated 200,000. This is a conservative estimate as there are over 200 -250 thousand daffodils on display every spring. With over 200 varieties of daffodils we are able to get approximately four to six weeks of bloom. Over the years we have added words spelled out in daffodils such as PEACE, LOVE and WELCOME. Spring 2016 marked the unveiling of a breast cancer ribbon made with 1600 Pink Ribbon daffodils in honor of our sisters who have died of cancer. (Janice, Regina, Diane and Nancy) This variety is sold by The Netherlands bulb company, and they donate 10% of the proceeds to cancer research. 2019 marked the year we added 'FAITH' and in 2021 the addition of "HOPE" in honor of family members namesakes. Each spring we designate two or three long weekends during which the public is invited to stroll the grounds among the daffodils. We do not charge an entrance fee, but donations for future bulb plantings are gratefully accepted. Curious and well-behaved kids are welcome. Please keep them from trampling daffodil stalks and flowers. We hope you'll come expand your vision of what a daffodil looks like. I bet you'll see a variety you've never seen before, even if you visited us last year.

🌼The last beautiful bunch of Daffodils by the driveway! 🌼🌼Thank you to all who came to visit, or brought us food - you are all amazing. We definitely enjoyed talking with people, educating on daffodil growth, planting, dividing and how our fields develop over time. Thank you to all who have followed on our page, it’s been fun 🤩 even if I haven’t worn my summer wardrobe yet!🤣I bring every season of clothes when I come and usually wear them during the month I’m here. Not this year - it has got to be the coldest, rainiest and windiest Daffodil season on our record books‼️😱

🌼Last chance to visit this weekend. There are still patches of beautiful daffodils around the fields. 🌼You will need to walk a little further than usual, but still lovely. These are all later varieties of Daffodils blooming now. 🌼

💔💔Broke our hearts that I had to write this to a Daffodil volunteer‼️🌼🌼
Ok Mary, I’m really sorry but it just isn’t going to work out to “Spread the Joy” this year. ☹️ With three hard frosts, constant rain for full days and only a day or two in a row at most for sunshine - the daffodils have suffered and are mostly gone or looking extremely sad, with blobs of color here and there. 🧐 My sister picked for an hour and a half to get enough to take to the cemetery for family graves. The blooms have either frozen, wilted or died in this crazy weather! Thank you very much for being willing to be a part of JOY’s legacy - let’s try again in 2027.🌼❣️🌼
With that said, The Zamoiski Daffodil Fields are open for visitors this coming weekend. May 1st through 3rd, 10am to 5pm as advertised.
You will need to walk more than usual as the late bloomers are planted far and wide throughout the fields. Weather is calling for more rain all day tomorrow again and frost warnings for Friday and Saturday night. 🌼 The Dandelions are gorgeous, however‼️🤣

🥶😱YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME‼️🌼🌼 Could this weather be any more fickle⁉️🥶😱🌼🌼

🥶 FROST ALERT — 607 WEATHER 🥶

We’re watching the risk for a couple more frosty mornings across the region 👇

🌅 Friday Morning:
Temps dropping into the low 30s with a few upper 20s possible in the coldest spots

🌅 Saturday Morning:
Another chilly start with temps again near 30–33° — upper 20s in the coldest spots and yes… more frost potential

📍 Best chance for frost:
• Valleys & low-lying areas
• Sheltered spots with lighter winds
• Rural locations away from the hills

⚠️ What this means:
If you’ve started planting or have sensitive vegetation out — you’ll want to cover it up or bring it in

Stay tuned — we’ll keep tracking it 🌡️

🌼🌼 The daffodils are hanging on, trying to stand back up after the weekend rain. Patches here and there look quite nice BUT the dandelions are coming on full force now‼️🤣 It has been suggested to change the name to Dandelion Daze and Dandelion Festival.😆😂🤣
