Honor Flight honor for my Korean War service

August 9, I was one of 107 Korean War and World War II veterans on the Honor Flight Chicago flight to Washington DC It was a memorable day followed by a welcoming home to Midway parade that included dozens of flag bearers, a navy marching unit, a bagpipe band, and thousands of greeters. I had at least 100 greeters shake my hand and say, "Thank you for your service." It made me more deeply proud to be an American and proud of my service as an army medic with the 9th Hospital MASH unit.
I wish we 107 veterans from the August 9 trip had been there to march (or wheelchair) in front of those juvenile delinquent football players who took a knee, and saluted. They disparaged our National Anthem, our flag, and all of us veterans who proudly served our country.

Ohio River sailing on a paddle wheel steamboat is an uplifting experience, a chance to meditate and reflect. We can't predict our journey's end. We cannot see around each bend. But we should live each precious day with God's great love as our main stay. The Old Ogre, age 89, and still feeling fine.
