Well folks… it was REALLY hot today 🥵☀️ — but thankfully, the fish bite was just as hot! 🔥🐟

The ocean was calm, the ride was smooth, and the fish were hungry.

We saw a little bit of everything today:

And before anybody starts yelling at their phone — yes, that Pink Snapper went right back where it came from. Closed season means back in the drink! 🐟🌊

That’s fishing. Sometimes you get to keep ’em, sometimes you get a picture, and sometimes the fish gets the last word. 😂 But one thing remains true…EVERYTHING IS A-OK ON THE VONDAKAY! ⚓️🎣

Nothing makes us happier than watching the kids put a bend in a rod! This young angler decided one grunt wasn’t enough and doubled down with TWO at once!

That’s how you do it, kid!
We LOVE seeing these young anglers catch fish, have fun, and make memories they’ll be talking about for years. ❤️🎣

Keep that rod bent and keep showing the adults how it’s done! 💪

This is exactly what fishing is all about! ❤️🎣 Mason celebrated his 10th birthday by putting fish in the box for a great cause, and what started as one young man’s birthday wish turned into a boat full of generosity.

Thank you so much to Mason, who decided to spend his 10th birthday fishing for the birds! Mason enjoyed meeting the animals at SkyWatch last year and told everyone fishing on the VondaKay that he wanted to donate his catches to the rescue. Several others aboard were inspired to add some of theirs to the bounty, too. Our birds and humans alike are grateful for your generosity, Mason, and wish you a happy bird-day!

Today's half-day trip was slicker than a greased mullet. Sunshine, calm seas, and the fish were chewing.

It was a straight-up Grunt beatdown out there. If you don't like catching Grunts, today would've been a rough day for your feelings. We also ran across some baby Gag Grouper, Black Sea Bass, and a few Ringtails to keep things interesting.

Big thanks to everybody who climbed aboard and slung bait with us today. We appreciate y'all keeping us busy. If you're sitting at home wondering if the fish are biting... they sure ain't biting from the couch. Come see us! 🎣🐟

Looks like the VondaKay invasion has officially reached Alaska! 🧊🎣

A huge thanks to one of our awesome supporters for grabbing one of our new VondaKay hats and sending us this picture. We can't promise the hat catches more fish... but we've never seen anyone wearing one come home empty-handed. 😏

🌞 Wednesday Half-Day Report – Fin-tastic Fishing! 🎣

The day started off a little soggy, but by the time we finished the ride out, the rain packed its bags and the sunshine showed up right on cue. That's about the time the fish decided to clock in too!

We hooked into about 8 juvenile Gag Groupers, landed a beautiful 25-inch Gag Grouper, and filled out the action with Rudders, Ringtails, Grunts, and Black Sea Bass.

The best part of the day? Watching a couple of awesome families make memories together. We got the kids bent over the rail with fish on the line, and those smiles are what it's all about.
