We took Blanche the Avalanche to Arrowhead Lake Campground in Johnston City, IL. We have been here several times in the past and wanted to bring Blanche to the place we had our first RV camping trip. Above is the Office and General Store. Below is the Bath House and Laundry Facility which is clean and well maintained. All sites are 50 amp and have water hook ups....

Arrowhead Lake Campground is near a cool cafe in downtown Johnston City, IL, Andersen's Cafe. It has an interesting history that you can read on the back of the menu. I loved these old wooden booths that remind me of the drug store I went to in my hometown when I was growing up. The food was good and so was the service. We will definitely be back!

While staying at Shawnee Forest Campground in Vienna, IL, we took a day trip to the Land Between the Lakes area in Kentucky. We stopped at Patti's 1880s Settlement in Grand Rivers, KY. This place has shops, a restaurant, mini golf, and many other things. We did not eat on this visit but wanted to see what the place looked like since they rebuilt the restaurant after a fire....

While camping at Shawnee Forest Campground we went to a local Metropolis, IL Bar and Grill called Fat Edd's Roadhouse. Their address is 323 Ferry St, Metropolis, IL. They have burgers, wings, shrimp among other things. They have a 4.5 star rating on Google reviews. Check them out on Facebook.

While camping at Shawnee Forest Campground, in Vienna, IL we drove east on Illinois Route 146 about 12 miles to The Chocolate Factory. It smells absolutely wonderful in there. From the many tasty looking treats, we purchased Salted Caramel Fudge, Milk Chocolate Fudge, White Chocolate Turtles, Raspberry Cream Filled Milk Chocolates, and a Crispy Rice Candy Bar. It was all delicious and did not last long. Check them out. You won't regret it.
