They say there are two seasons in Wyoming: winter and construction season.
As construction projects ramp up across the state, truck drivers face unique challenges in work zones. Here are a few safety reminders to keep in mind:
🚧 Slow down and follow posted work zone speed limits. Reduced speeds help protect both workers and drivers.
🚧 Increase your following distance. Traffic can slow or stop unexpectedly in construction zones, and heavy trucks need more time and space to react.
🚧 Watch for narrow lanes and shifting traffic patterns. Temporary lane changes can leave less room for error, especially for larger vehicles.
🚧 Be aware of construction equipment entering and exiting the roadway. Expect the unexpected and stay alert.
🚧 Secure your load and conduct thorough pre-trip inspections. Construction zones can create rough road conditions that put additional stress on equipment and cargo.
🚧 Plan your route ahead of time. Road work, lane closures and delays can impact travel times and delivery schedules.
Every work zone is a shared responsibility. By staying alert, slowing down and giving yourself extra space, you can help keep yourself, construction crews and everyone else on the road safe this construction season.
