Just when you think the season is winding down, wildland fire aviation reminds you—it isn’t over until Mother Nature says it’s over. ✈️🔥

With September 30th scheduled to mark the end of our season at Casper Airtanker Base, our crews had begun the process of end-of-year preparations on September 23rd.

Then the radios started chirping.

Within moments, the flight line came alive—retardant began flowing, fuel operations ramped up, and what had been season closeout preparations quickly shifted back into active airtanker operations.

From preparing to close out the year to supporting an active mission, our crews made the transition without missing a beat—loading retardant, fueling aircraft, coordinating sorties, and keeping the mission moving.

That’s wildland fire aviation. The calendar may say the season is winding down, but the mission dictates the pace.

Radios chirping. Retardant flowing. Fuel pumping. Aircraft launching. Mission first.

✈️🔥 INTO THE EVENING SKIES — THE MISSION CONTINUES

Yesterday, the skies over Casper came alive once again as Casper Airtanker Base launched aircraft sortie after sortie, supporting the wildland fire mission from the ramp to the fireline.

As daylight began to fade across Wyoming, the sound of turbine engines continued to echo across the base. Aircraft returned, were loaded, turned, and launched again—each departure carrying another load and another opportunity to make a difference on the fireline.

For our pilots, aircrews, ramp personnel, loaders, timekeepers, and support staff, the mission doesn’t simply end because the day grows late.

From first launch to final flight, we remain ready.

Because in fire aviation, every sortie matters. Every gallon matters. Every safe return matters.

And no matter the hour, Casper Airtanker Base stands poised and ready to answer the call.

✈️ CASPER AIRTANKER BASE — POISED & READY

After a peaceful and relaxing morning, Casper Airtanker Base came to life once again this afternoon in support of the Moonshine Fire.

As activity increased, our tanker base personnel, ground crews, and aircrews quickly shifted into operational mode—supporting multiple aircraft and keeping them moving safely and efficiently.

By the end of the day, more than 25,000 gallons of retardant had been delivered to the fire, adding to Casper’s continued support of firefighters working the Moonshine Fire.

Days like today are a reminder that in wildland fire aviation, things can change quickly. A quiet morning can turn into a busy afternoon in a matter of minutes.

Through it all, Casper Airtanker Base stays poised, prepared, and ready to answer the call.

🔥✈️ THE FRIENDLY GHOST BASE WAS BUSY TODAY! ✈️🔥

When the call came in for the Moonshine Fire, the Casper Airtanker Base answered in a BIG way.

Starting around 9:30 AM, the ramp came alive as numerous Large Airtankers and SEATs cycled through the base—loading, launching, returning, and heading right back into the fight.

By the end of the day:

✈️ 30+ loads dispatched
🔥 40,000+ gallons of retardant pumped
💪 One mission: support the firefighters on the ground and help slow the fire’s advance.

Days like this aren’t about one person or one position. They are about a complete aviation operation working together—safely, efficiently, and with purpose.

We could start giving shout-outs, but the list would be long. It would include our outstanding Casper Tanker Base crew, the hardworking Perimeter Solutions crew, and, of course, the brave airtanker and SEAT pilots who repeatedly took to the skies and put those loads where they were needed.

From the ramp to the retardant plant, from dispatch to the cockpit—every load represents teamwork.

More than 40,000 gallons. More than 30 loads. One very busy day at the Friendly Ghost Base.

A busy day at the Friendly Ghost Base! 👻✈️

SEATs from Casper, Worland, Rock Springs, and Gillette came together and put in some serious work today. A great job by our pilots, support crews, base personnel, and Perimeter for keeping everything moving safely and efficiently.

When things get busy, it takes everyone doing their part to get the mission accomplished.

Teamwork makes the dream work! Great job by all! 🔥✈️💪
