Check out this post from the West Virginia Department of Education celebrating the achievement of a Raleigh County middle school student who placed third in a regional competition sharing the word on safe driving around school buses. It is illegal to pass a stopped school bus with its lights flashing and stop sign extended. Share the word!

Bus Safety Matters ✏️

The National Association for Pupil Transportation proudly announces Kathleen A. of Shady Spring Middle School (Raleigh County) as the third-place winner in Division 3 of the 2025-2026 National School Bus Safety Poster Contest. 🎨

The centerpiece of National School Bus Safety Week is the annual poster contest. Each year, thousands of school districts in more than 40 states participate in local and state-level competitions to select artwork that depicts school bus safety-related themes and encourages and promotes school bus safety. The winning posters are used to promote safer school transportation for everyone. 🚌

You can replace your worn or damaged license plate at the time of renewal for no extra cost. Or, replace it anytime for a small fee. If you love the plates you already have, ask about replica plates which may be available for many types of plate.

Just over 200 of the America's 250th limited-edition license plates are still available at DMV's around the state. More than 20 plates remain at the Elkins, Martinsburg, Weirton and Williamson regional offices. Fewer than 20 plates remain at the Beckley, Berkley Springs, Clarksburg, Franklin, Huntington, Kanawha City, Moorefield, Moundsville, Point Pleasant, Summersville, Welch and Winfield locations. The remaining locations are sold out of the plate. Guests who cannot get to a regional office, or who have questions about the plate, can call the statewide toll free DMV phone number, (800) 642-9066.
