So, Meta/Facebook, whatever Gods may be, are now threatening to take down my page.
After almost 16 years on Facebook, and earning a very modest income from this page, nothing huge, but I enjoyed it. The current standard of reposting historical posts, automatically, without my knowledge, control, or approval, but allowing the AI models to scan your posts, even from your back catalog, with current standards and community guidelines, and then penalize you for them, is like judging Looney Tunes by today's standards.
It is patently unfair. Posts that either flew under the radar or met community guidelines at the time they were posted should not be held accountable to the modern standards. And now my personal page, which I have had since the early 00's, is also at risk of being taken down. Years of memories, photos, and god knows what else, are all in danger of permanent deletion. They keep dinging me for posts I have no idea will even be reposted, and the AI can't tell it is a joke. They see certain trigger words and BAM! You have a violation. Focusing on my degree right now, I often miss the opportunity to "appeal" these judgments, and appealing to the Oversight Board is a literal joke.
Even if you are chosen for evaluation by the Oversight Board, they state on their website that they cannot influence Facebook to change your situation. So what is the point? If you have laughed at anything I have posted in the last 16 years, or if I have made you smile, I ask you to submit a complaint or report a problem to Facebook. Tell them this is unfair and that the pages you love are at risk. Tell them that judging historical posts by current guidelines is unfair and wrong. Help save this page, and I am sure others like me will.
