A ride can connect a student to much more than a destination.
This summer, Jaunt partnered with ReLeaf Cville to transport local high school students participating in the Green Team, a program that teaches young people about trees, conservation, environmental stewardship, and community leadership.
During a visit to Bellair Farm, Farm Manager Michelle introduced the students to sustainable agriculture, food production, water use, food safety, conservation, and responsible land stewardship.
“Food production, water, wildlife, conservation, and care for the land all affect one another,” Michelle shared.
For one Charlottesville High School student, participating in ReLeaf has also deepened her understanding of the outdoors she enjoys with her family.
“Now, when I’m outside, I have a better understanding of the trees, nature, and the world around me,” she said.
ReLeaf Executive Director Cathy Boyd explained that transportation is often a significant hurdle for nonprofits. Jaunt was proud to help remove that barrier and connect students to an experience designed to inspire learning, service, and growth.
