have helped meet the urgent home repair needs of residents of western New York in Steuben and Allegany Counties . RISE (Risingville Intercommunity Service Effort) has worked over the course of forty years to make the families of Steuben and Allegany Counties, in New York, warmer, safer, and drier. In 1980, Reverend Dale Forsman and a handful of eager Chatham, New Jersey, teenagers worked to impr
ove a single home, helping to sustain one family in need. From that humble beginning, RISE has blossomed to include teams from across the East on providing help to families in New York. Over the past summers, RISE reached out to many families giving assistance over the broad gamut of services we provide. Roofs were replaced and repaired, wheelchair ramps were built, porches repaired, houses were painted, and skirting was installed around the base of trailers to provide better insulation against the brutal Appalachian winter. Equally important, teams made new friends, learned new skills, and grew in their faith and love of mission. Even as we stop to reflect on our past 40 summers, we have begun preparations for next summerβs labor of love. This year, in addition to our normal fundraising to support our summer program we have other capital fund needs for which we prayerfully can use your assistance.
1. Raising funds to add end covers to our new storage building.
2. If you or a friend or family member have a van or a pick-up truck
that you would like to donate we would gladly consider it. Beyond our normal fundraising effort WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP if you would like to volunteer!
