Tool truck account etiquette.
Your weekly payment....
Your weekly payment is due EVERY week. Not just when you see the truck.
If you miss a payment your next payment is two weeks of payments. Unless otherwise discussed with your MSM.
If you change shops or jobs it is your responsibility to let your MSM know and continue making your payments.
If life happens and you fall on hard times let your MSM know and they should work with you. Life happens to all of us.
You are paying for the tools to be in your box.
All tool trucks no matter what flag they're flying are small buisness, owned by a hard working person just like you. Their pay is dependent on you paying your payments.
Think of this... if you miss a truck payment what does the bank expect???
If you work all week and your boss says... i can't pay you this weekend. How does that effect you?
If someone owes you money and they dont answer your calls or return your text... how does this make you feel?
Keep your tool truck account financially healthy.
Rule of thumb...
If your budget allows you $100.00 per week dont build your account above $1,000.00. If your budget allows you $50.00 per week dont build your account above $500.00. This is a 10 week turn and is healthy for you and the MSM. You and your MSM should communicate any changes immediately. If your account is maxed out you can pay for additional purchases out right while continuing payments.
Your MSM should be very clear as to the expectations of your account. They should keep a well stocked truck. Run their route in a consistent manner. Provide adequate warranty processes per manufacturer. Notify customers if any changes to the route will be made. If they're not running. Provide the most up to date tools.
Miss conceptions of a tool truck..
1:They make tons of money.
2: Its a glamorous job.
3: You can charge $3,000.00 on account and pay $25 per week.
4: If the truck doesnt show up you dont owe payment that week.
5: Prices should be same as big box stores or online.
Is it a huge inconvenience when you spend tens of thousands of dollars in tools and then the tool truck goes out of buisness?? These things are why that happens. Other than poor management by the msm.
Help these small buisnesses be successful they in turn should help you be successful!
