Jeff Smith, the pioneer of rigid enclosures was invited to speak at the Maritime Institute in Linthicum MD to members of the International Institute of Marine Surveying.

He was asked to educate members on the different materials used for modern marine enclosures. Comparing items such as StrataGlasses stated marine life of 2 to 5 years compared to acrylics proven 10 years plus. He gave members insight for informed marine surveys and adjusting. Discussion included issues with the many various polycarbonate materials in use and what it means to consumers as well as the unique properties of clear2sea uv and cool2sea acrylics compared to conventional acrylic used by the rest of the industry.

He explained that only members of the 4u2sea Fraternity can use the clear2sea uv and cool2sea Acrylics. He added that there are over 40 members of the Fraternity now and he is seeking to find more shops that qualify for areas that are not currently serviced. It was pointed out that conventional acrylic as used in Smiths first invention and the rest of the industry only block about 70% of uv while his patent pending acrylics block 98%. It is clear that Acrylics are top of the chain with cool2sea being premium, clear2sea uv being second and conventional acrylic coming in third.
