The horses were right, and the second clip proves it. Parking nose-in with a trailer is the one mistake you cannot undo without doing the exact thing you were avoiding — and you can watch a full minute of a man trying every alternative on earth rather than put it in reverse once.

Here's the part that surprises people: the small trailer is the hard one. Reversing an articulated combination is governed by wheelbase, and a short single-axle box pivots so fast it's already jackknifed by the time your correction arrives. A 53-foot trailer is slow, stable and forgiving by comparison — it telegraphs everything it's about to do and gives you time to fix it. Hauling master steel coils requires specialized coil racks, heavy timber cribbing, and extreme securement chains rated to withstand thousands of pounds of tension. When loaded shotgun-style, the slightest failure in banding straps or edge protectors can trigger a catastrophic chain reaction. A loaded truck needs far more road to complete a pass than any car, and on a two-lane the closing speed with oncoming traffic eats that distance in seconds. Passing on a double yellow or into a blind curve isn't a skill move, it's gambling with other people's lives, and it's a serious traffic violation: two of those within three years can take a CDL holder off the road for 60 days. The pass saves a minute; the reputation damage lands on every driver who shares the road with the people who watched it.

Every clip in this compilation was shot on a phone out the windshield, which means each one documents two problems: the truck doing the swerving, and the one filming it. FMCSA's hand-held rule is not a soft one — drivers face civil penalties up to $2,750, carriers up to $11,000 for allowing or requiring it, violations carry maximum severity weight in a carrier's SMS score, and repeat offences count as a serious traffic violation that can disqualify a CDL.

The irony is the useful part. A hard-mounted dashcam costs less than one ticket, records continuously, keeps both hands where they belong, and produces footage that actually holds up if you ever need it. The phone version gets you the same clip and a violation to go with it.

The Mack Super-Liner is one of the most legendary conventional trucks in American trucking history, produced from 1977 to 1993 and built to win over western owner-operators and small fleets. In 1984, Mack re-engineered the truck into the Super-Liner II, easily spotted by its new square headlight assemblies in place of the original round lights. To launch this new generation – alongside Mack's new Ultra-Liner cabover – the company built a limited run of just 250 special edition trucks, including only 186 Super-Liners badged the "Magnum" edition. Painted all black with bold red "Magnum" lettering down the hood, a special red Mack interior, and chrome-plated brake chambers, these trucks were available with 400, 450, or up to 500 horsepower from Mack's legendary E9 V8 diesel – an engine famous for its distinctive low-rpm lugging sound. Decades later, most Magnum Super-Liners have been lost to rust, neglect, or scrapping, making surviving examples exceptionally rare and highly sought after by collectors. Some have even been rescued from mud pits and dirt lots, fully restored down to the frame rails to bring them back to their original glory. A 600-pound rock wedged between a rear axle and the frame of a loaded dry van, carried roughly 25 miles from Port Washington into downtown Milwaukee while every driver on the road tried to flag him down.

The recovery is more careful than it looks. First the boom truck lifts the loaded trailer to unload the axle, because trying to drag anything out while that weight is pinning it just welds it in place. Then the rock gets strapped — and that's the part that takes judgement, because a boulder has no lift points, no flat faces to trust and no predictable centre of gravity. Get the bind wrong and it slips out of the straps mid-pull, on the shoulder of a live road, with people working beside it. Done right, it comes out in one movement and nobody gets near the pinch point.

Then it's on the deck, and it belongs to nobody.
