Metra is implementing service improvements across the Metra Electric Line with a new schedule that takes effect June 15. The new schedule simplifies service patterns and increases service frequency at multiple stations in alignment with the goals of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act to expand public transit access and improve reliability. The Union Pacific Railroad Big Boy No. 4014, the largest steam locomotive is making a stop at West Chicago on June 3rd, 2026 between 9am to 3pm!!!

Parking is limited, take the Metra UPW line to West Chicago Station, where Big Boy No. 4014 will be staged. We are adding extra service that day, so please check our website for schedules and ticket information.

Please remember to practice rail safety when getting on and off at the station platform and when you are taking pictures of Big Boy No. 4014.

Metra will operate a Sunday/Holiday Schedule for Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026. No alcohol will be allowed on any Metra train.

As a reminder, the elevator that provides access to Millennium Station and South Water Street for persons with disabilities will be out of service while it is being replaced. ADA customers are advised to use Van Buren Street Station as an alternative. Visit metra.com for additional information.

Metra will be expanding both weekday and weekend schedules on its Rock Island Line beginning Monday, June 1. The new schedules will significantly expand weekend service, address gaps in weekday service to meet customer requests, and change stopping patterns on some off-peak trains to better reflect ridership patterns and travel times.
