Maybe I do go a little overboard.

I decorate for birthdays like they’re once-in-a-lifetime events…
because they are.

I make holidays feel bigger than they have to.
I plan vacations down to the smallest details.
I surprise her with little things she never expects.
I buy the ears, the souvenirs, the matching shirts.
I stop for the photos.
I record the videos.
I save every tiny memory I can.

Not because she needs all of those things…

But because childhood only happens once.

One day she’ll roll her eyes instead of reaching for my hand.
One day she won’t need me to carry her when she’s tired.
One day the magic won’t come from me anymore.

So while she still believes…
while she still gets excited over the little surprises…
while she still wants me beside her…

I’m going to make it magical.

Not because I’m trying to give her a perfect childhood.

Because I’m trying to give her a childhood that feels loved.

Years from now, she probably won’t remember every gift or every dollar I spent.

But I hope she remembers the feeling.

The feeling of being celebrated.
The feeling of being safe.
The feeling that her mom always tried to make ordinary days feel extraordinary.

And if that means I’m “doing too much”…

Then I’ll keep doing too much.

Every single time.

Because these aren’t just memories I’m making for her.

They’re the moments I’ll hold onto long after she’s grown.
