TRAILBLAZER THURSDAY | KATHRYN CREEDY
Not every trailblazer in aviation maintenance turns wrenches.
Some use their voice to make sure the women who do are seen.
Kathryn Creedy () has spent more than four decades telling the stories of aviation. She began her career with Commuter Air Magazine in 1980, later co-founded Commuter/Regional Airline News, worked in FAA Public Affairs and has written for publications including Forbes, Aviation Week, Air & Space Magazine, Aviation for Women and Aviation Maintenance.
Her connection to women in maintenance began with a story.
While covering a Women in Aviation International conference, Kathryn interviewed Stacey Rudser, Evie Garces and members of Chix Fix. What started as an assignment became something much bigger.
“I fell in love with these women,” Kathryn says. And after a career interviewing executives and pilots, she came to another conclusion:
Women in aviation maintenance have the most fun.
Kathryn continued covering the aviation workforce and the challenges facing AMTs, eventually founding Future Aviation/Aerospace Workforce News during COVID. Today, she continues to advocate for the next generation of aviation professionals and was recently elected President of the National Coalition for Aviation & Space Education, where she is helping build an early-learning-to-career pipeline for aviation and aerospace.
Kathryn may not carry a toolbox, but she has used her platform to shine a light on the women who do.
And that makes her an AWAM trailblazer in our book. 💜✈️🔧
