Happy 4th of July!

The Steele County/Thompson Sanitation Recycling Office in Owatonna will be closed to the public on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Recycling dumpsters will remain accessible for public use.

The Austin Transfer Station will also be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

All routes will be running as scheduled this week.

This is a friendly reminder that we must not throw lithium batteries into the trash. We have experienced three fires as a result of improper disposal, and we must prioritize safety in our workspace.

If you have lithium batteries to dispose of, please utilize one of the following locations that accept them:
- Thompson Sanitation in Owatonna
- Freeborn County Environmental Services
- Mower County Recycling
