If you use a mobility device, how do you vet a cruise before you book it? 👇

Five questions I ask before I book any cruise, no matter the line.
What is the verified door width of the stateroom AND the bathroom? The bathroom door is the one that fails wheelchair users.

Where is the muster station relative to the cabin? Drills can be twenty minutes, loud, and crowded. While Royal has moved to "in room" drills and checking in at a station, Disney Cruise still makes you go and wait for eeevvvveerrrryyyy one in your group to arrive and do the drill. It's gut wrenching.

What is the tender policy for power mobility devices? Some lines will NOT tender a power chair at all. Some will on calm water with notice.

Who is my actual contact for special arrangements? Name, email, making sure they can contact at sea.

What I ask before I call a hotel room "wheelchair accessible."

⭐ Door width, in inches, on paper
⭐ Roll in shower, with a current photo
⭐ Bed height, in inches
⭐ Step free path from elevator to door

If they can't answer, the answer is no.

Here's what most travelers don't realize.

🍞 “Gluten free" on a menu is not a verified condition
🍞 Cross contact is the entire game, not the ingredient
🍞 A shared fryer cancels the entire effort
🍞 The training matters more than the symbol on the menu

A small thing I do that clients tell me they didn't know they wanted.

A printed welcome packet, waiting in your room when you arrive.

⭐ The itinerary, in writing
⭐ Restaurant addresses with my notes
⭐ The on-property contacts I've already briefed
A small thoughtful touch I picked for the family

It's a detail. Details are the whole point.

What that means in practice:

⭐ I ask the questions you've been carrying
⭐ I get answers in writing
⭐ I cross check the ones that don't pass the smell test

What "pre arrival prep" actually looks like.

Real example from a recent client trip:

⭐ Room blocked 60 days out, measured for door width
⭐ Dietary notes sent to the chef, by name
⭐ Quiet check in arranged, no lobby wait
⭐ A printed itinerary at the front desk before they landed

That's what handled before you arrive looks like.

Most trips aren't stressful because of where you go.

They're stressful because of the unknowns.

⭐ Will the room actually fit the wheelchair?
⭐ Will the kitchen take cross contact seriously?
⭐ Will the check in staff have the notes I sent?
⭐ Will I be the one fixing it if they don't?

The unknowns are the work. That's where I live.
