I think I’m to a point where things that used to boggle my mind just don’t surprise me anymore. All of this underhanded and shady stuff that I get to experience, because certain people think that they’re slick enough to blindside me at every turn? I mean, c’mon now! Anymore, it usually has next to no impact on me, personally. But, whether you want to call it Karmic Justice, or God’s Wrath, or even the eventual level-setting that takes place in almost every case - How can these people keep trying to do “slick sh*t”, knowing damn well that their words and actions always come back to haunt them, and that the price to be paid is so high? And THEN THEY TRY TO ACT LIKE A VICTIM??! Seriously, you do this to yourself! How about you just go on and try to exercise some semblance of NORMALCY in your life? Screwing people over doesn’t work out in the long run for most people. And even the best scammers, manipulators, & deceivers eventually fall from their self-professed grace. I’ve seen this for several years now, from individuals who once shared in my life with me. IT HASN’T WORKED OUT YET. But who are we, (who are any of us), to attempt to counsel those who feel that they need no help, and only view themselves as victims AFTER THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR POOR CHOICES ARE PRESENTED TO THEM? Reality always has a way of destroying people’s delusions…

Sitting here with a bunch of folks, and the topic of country music came up. (Keep in mind, as usual, I’m the standout in the room - multiracial, educated, yankee trucker, sitting in a local cowboy bar in Texas). When they asked me how long I’ve been listening to country music, I had take a few back, far beyond the day they born - I used to listen to country music on a mono-speaker AM radio, as my father drove his Monte Carlo, way back in 1976. (Yeah, son. I’m a little older than I look. But DAMN, I look good, right? 😆).

But I explained to them that the reason why I like all genres of music, (but especially country music),is because of the meaning behind the lyrics. So, everyone started naming their favorites. (Of course, every classic country song known to man was mentioned. And likewise, every 21st century country artist was slammed, with the typical, “These kids don’t know what country music is”. I walked over and put THIS song on. When it started playing, (even though it’s a little older now), I explained to them that this song might possibly be some of the best and most quintessential country music lyrics that I’ve ever heard. Not a “my ol’ lady left me, my dog died, & my truck won’t start” stuff. But a song about simple people who appreciate a simple life, in a county that they love. As I told them, it’s what I promote. Simple traditional living, hard work, and basic principles.

One of the ol’ timers said, as the song was ending, “That’s the problem with this country now - People forgot all of this stuff”. Well, Texas - Welcome Jacksonville, Alabama’s own, Riley Green, (and some pretty damn good lyrics).

Stayed up most of the night, watching the race, even if just for moral support for my kid. DON’T LET THE OPULENCE OF THE SURROUNDINGS FOOL YOU. It is crazy for me to see things like personal chefs and team chiropractors. But imagine that your naps take place in a folding chair, and the excitement being so high that “sleeping” in one of the team trailers means literally only closing your eyes literally for a few hours. The amount of technology, engineering, & knowledge that it takes to make these machines run non-stop for 24 hours straight, is beyond my level of understanding. But I’m proud of him. And I’m sure that the entire experience will not just build his love and passion for the brand, but will likely teach him things that he didn’t even know about himself.

Friggin fantastic! That bed is a good one. She’s faithful, soft in all the right places, follows me wherever I go, & is a hot mess every morning, but perfectly made up every night when I go to lay down with her. She doesn’t talk back, doesn’t bring chaos or drama into my life, and refuses to ever have another man lay with her. Ah, yes! Need I say that this might just be the perfect relationship?
