Had a little trouble with the starboard transmission but the cruise plan was good and I had a decent mate. Jeff Gross was entertaining and capable for the 5 days we were in the intracoastal. The 1 day we were in the open ocean....well, he was OK there, too.

After completing an intricate and difficult rush job (5 days of work compressed into 1 weekend) for a dive charter boat in which he passed the Coast Guard inspection but still complained about the price, I read the writing on the wall and started up my Detroits and sprinted back to Brevard County. Best decision I could have made...

The marine service work was not gaining ground in Pensacola so I fell back on the old reliable - small contractor work. But that was only temporary.

I was all alone in the hospital room, not knowing what would happen next and feeling sorry for myself and I asked God to help me buck up, and all of a sudden my friend & neighbor, Don Govan just showed up. I had texted him to check on my boat and I'm not really sure how he even knew where I was, but he suddenly just showed up. It was like when Chuck Norris suddenly shows up when all the chips are down in the Expendables. And then everything was all right. I just needed some form of human connection at that point and God sent him to me at the exact right time. Thank you for being a friend, Don. If you need marine service in Fort Lauderdale, call Don at Govan Marine Service at 954.560.6046.

It's been exactly 1 year since my triple bypass surgery. I was only in the hospital for 12 days (only 5 after the operation) and recovery was quick. Happy to be alive and thankful for Jesus' healing hands. Also thankful for Broward Health and the skilled hands of Al Justicz.

Pensacola is a great place - US Navy and a real Southern charm. But I came to appreciate the passion for boating in Brevard County. People take care of their boats here and really enjoy the water.

Fort Lauderdale was an interesting experience and made me realize that my home is here - Brevard County. It feels good to be home doing what I love - boats, boats, boats.
