Today marks the beginning of Winter. Who's ready to face the cold head-on? Be prepared and stay safe on the road by checking this out to help you get through this season.

Tip #1 Be sure to check your tires, brakes, fluids, and all other components just to be sure that your truck is in good working condition.

Tip #2 Always bring extra blankets, food, and fuel. Also, it is best to carry extra safety equipment with you such as chains, tow straps, and jumper cables in case of emergency.

Tip #3 Keep your line of communication open and be sure to have someone you can easily at any moment that you will need.

Tip #4 Take it slow. Don't rush and keep your speed at a minimum and plan your routes ahead so you can avoid dangerous roads.

This has been an endless conversation when talking about rates. With the market being down and many Carriers going out of business, it is really interesting to know who's at fault.

Do brokers really take up too much, or are there really carriers not knowing their worth?

This couldn't be an issue of either or. And it takes more than that of brokers taking half the freight's pay and carriers taking in minimal paying freight. It is more of a question of who.

Who gets the upper hand, and who is severely impacted by today's market behavior? Who benefits and gets disadvantaged the most. And we think this is where everyone else would agree. Be it brokers or carriers, these types of situation affects small businesses the most.

How can we make it better? If small businesses start to support and patronize each other, this could be a game changer. Because the real problem starts when the market is monopolized by a few. So besides negotiating and knowing one's worth, it could be a lot of help to let these giants feel that they are not the only choice.
