On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Colorado Springs Airport partnered with agencies across the Pikes Peak region to conduct a Full-Scale Emergency Exercise focused on strengthening safety, readiness, and interagency coordination.
We were proud to work alongside teams from the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Fire Department, Colorado Springs Police Department, the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management, CommonSpirit Health, UCHealth Hospital, Peterson Space Force Base, American Red Cross, CAPS Colorado Springs, U.S. Army Fort Carson, and more than two dozen additional partners. This exercise is completed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, which require airports to conduct full-scale emergency drills every three years to ensure operational preparedness.
This year’s exercise included:
• 23 controller evaluators
• 29 observers
• 61 players
• 35 support volunteers
• 53 simulated victim volunteers
Together, participants dedicated 764 hours to this full-scale emergency exercise. We are grateful for the commitment of all our partners who help ensure Colorado Springs Airport and our broader community remain ready to respond effectively in any situation.
