We will be open today, Saturday May 23. The forecast shows scattered rain chances today with the chance of a popup storm, but nothing severe.

We have good water levels with good places to stop along your paddle.

Good Morning Paddlers,

We will be closed today, Friday May 22, due to rain and storms. We are watching the forecast for the weekend and will post an update each morning. As of right now, Saturday is looking better.

If you have a reservation you will receive a text if we close, asking if you want to reschedule, receive a refund or if you want a store credit so you can reschedule at your convenience (works like a gift card).

Good Morning Paddlers,

Well Memorial Day Weekend’s weather is looking a little unsettled. In the words of Shelby Mac on News 2, “Good Rain, bad timing”

This weekend we will make a decision each morning. It will be a day by day decision. We will be watching water levels and the forecast closely.

If you have a reservation and we decide not to open that day you will get a text by 7 am asking if you want to reschedule, receive a refund or receive a credit that allows you to reschedule at your convenience (works like a gift card).

Also, if you want to reschedule your own reservation you can do that through your customer portal. To find the portal, select the customer portal link in your confirmation text or email. This will bring up your portal and you can select reschedule to change your reservation. As always we are happy to help you reschedule or cancel your reservation, just send us an email, text or give us a call.

We hope to still be able to open this weekend but will just have to see what the weather lets us do.

Good Morning paddlers,

We are open this weekend, May 16-17.
The weather looks great this weekend and the river is low but has a channel you can make it down.

Saturday: we are not accepting any same day reservations

Sunday: we still have space and all boat types available

Just in case you didn’t know just how special the Duck River is, here is a great article. The Duck River is truly amazing.

It is new Merch Monday!

Lots of boxes arrived at Higher Pursuits last week. 😀

We received yet another new product- a long sleeve T-Shirt weight Hoodie. It features the Paddle More Worry Less design. I wore mine this weekend and let me tell you, the shirt is so soft and is the perfect weight for a cool morning. It also has thumb holes. The shirt comes in three colors: Butter, Broadway Blue and Chill.

Also in the same design is a Short Sleeve Rainbow Tie Dye.

Both of these shirts come from a company called Greenworks. They use all water-based inks for their tie dye and printing. This makes for a super soft shirt and is much better for the environment.

As always, these are available in our store at the canoe base and also through our online store.

Happy Mother’s Day.

It is a beautiful day and the river is awesome. We are not accepting any walk-ins today.

Normally I wait until Monday to announce our new merch, but we got so many boxes in this week I just couldn’t wait.

So, just in time for Mothers Day……

For the first time ever, we now have racerback tank tops. These are an incredibly soft tri-blend and come in Heather Plum or Heather Blue. It features the “Say Yes to Adventure design”. This design also comes in a short sleeve version (in case tank tops are not your thing).

Finally, we also have canvas tote bags with the “Say yes to adventure” design.

As always, these are available in our shop at the canoe base but are also available at the online store.

Good Morning Paddlers,

We are open today, Saturday May 9. The water level dropped substantially yesterday. At this level there are limited places to stop but on a positive note you don’t have to work very hard today.

Good Evening Paddlers,

Our Level 1 kayak class scheduled for tomorrow, Friday May 8 is cancelled because of elevated water levels.

We are watching the water level for this weekend but are hopeful that the river will drop quickly tomorrow so we can open on Saturday. We will post another update tomorrow.

Its new Merch Monday…

Today’s feature is a brand we have carried awhile but we just got some new designs. Lotus and Luna provides the bracelets we carry in the shop, but like many of our vendors they have a wonderful story and mission. They are committed to providing meaningful, steady employment and fair wages to artisan villages in Thailand. Every piece is a wearable symbol of authentic handmade artistry and your impact on deserving communities.

This year we have the braided pebble and braided puka design. We have added anklets from the sea glass collection. There is a wonderful assortment of natural beads and stones as well as their island collection.
