Carl's Mobile Truck Alignments Tractor trailer alignment, tire wear and handling expert. Welcome to my professional page. Number one issue is running under inflated.

We will be discussing tire wear and handling issues for large trucks, trailers and rvs. In a typical long haul operation good quality steer tires, properly maintained, will run for 200,000 miles or more. Few drivers are aware of the fact they are doing this. If you are seeing wear patterns that are on the inside ribs of any tire running the circumference of the tire it is highly likely you are run

ning under inflated. Today's trucks have larger, heavier engines with added displacement and added weight of emissions devices putting more weight on the steer axle. They carry close to 12,000 lbs when the truck is empty. If you are running anything less than 110 psi in your steers you are under inflated. Just remember the three biggest factors in tire maintenance are inflation, inflation, inflation. Always check tire pressures cold, use a good quality gauge and check its calibration at least twice a year.
