Have you seen this display before at CMH?

Right across from the Delta ticket counter, you'll find a public display where you can learn more about John Glenn, our airport's namesake. John Glenn was born in Ohio, became a decorated aviator in the Marine Corps, and orbited around the Earth in 1962.

The display case features personal belongings and records gathered from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs and the Ohio Congressional Archives. We're proud to work with our friends at The Ohio State University on the items that rotate in this display case, part of the Legacy of Leadership collection outlining our history of the airport. Come visit next time you're at CMH!

Today we celebrate and remember the life of John Glenn. Exactly 105 years ago, John Glenn was born in Cambridge, Ohio and lived an incredible life as an aviator, astronaut, and dreamer who loved serving his community and spending time with his family.

John Glenn started out as a decorated Marine Corps aviator, and in 1962, he went on the Friendship 7 capsule and launched into space from Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he orbited around the Earth 3 times. Later on in life, he served his local community as an Ohio senator, and he made a return trip to space at the age of 77.

Today, we're reminded of the heart that John Glenn had for serving others, and the boldness he had to dream big and explore. Happy birthday, John Glenn. And thank you for the impact you've made, from Ohio to the stars.
