Spirit Airlines has reportedly shut down operations, canceling all flights and advising passengers not to go to the airport. This impacts thousands of travelers and employees who will lose their jobs, which is unfortunate.

While I don’t personally book Spirit, my heart goes out to everyone affected—especially those with upcoming trips who are now scrambling for solutions and those employees who now find themselves unemployed. 🙏🏽

Travel can be unpredictable, and moments like this are a reminder of how important it is to have a plan (and support) in place.

🗣️ The Department of Homeland Security is suspending TSA PreCheck and Global Entry temporarily as a result of a partial government shutdown.

🚨 Key details:

Effective Date: Suspension begins at 6 a.m. ET on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Impact: Travelers will not be able to use TSA PreCheck lanes or global entry kiosks, which will likely result in longer security lines.

Travelers with these programs should consider arriving earlier than usual and prepare for longer wait times at airports.

🌟 UPDATE 2:25pm - The Department of Homeland Security on Sunday walked back its decision to suspend the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program, after initially sparking confusion for travelers when it said it was temporarily halting the popular service.

TSA “will evaluate on a case-by-case basis and adjust operations”.
