Seth Lake does excellent job on these podcasts. Part 1 was posted October 5th with subsequent parts through last week. Well worth listening for PPL students or any seasoned pilots on what is expected from a DPE standpoint.

August 30th 2020; The crew of American Airlines Flight 1997 on approach to Los Angeles Int. LAX reported sighting a man sporting a jetpack flying in close proximity to their aircraft

LAX ATC tapes captured the following communication
:
"Tower, American 1997, we just passed a guy on a jetpack,".
"Off the left side, maybe 300 yards or so, about our altitude."

The captain a Skywest flight confirmed the sighting moments later.

"Tower, Skywest, we just saw the guy passing by us in the jetpack."

The Federal Aviation Agency is investigating the incident.

This comes after another recently launched FAA investigation of a Gee Bee aircraft collision with a ground vehicle at a nearby airfield. Pilot Cliff Secord was unharmed, but sadly the experimental race aircraft was a total loss.
