A look inside the seized engine. I filled the cylinder with penatrating oil… looks like i should have filled th e crank case too! Now to get the connecting rod cap off and then the crank out.

Flywheel removal to start the tear down process. once the flywheel was off then i could blow away all the debris. Then it was time to start removing the timing base. Stay tuned for more of the tear down process. Next will be removing the top of the crank case.

Seized outboard! This single cylinder air cooled jet outboard is pretty cool. Just a little seized right now. Filled the cylinder with diesel then with penetrating oil on different occasions and let sit, no luck. All the fasteners that want to budge. Had to heat the screws to get the recoil/shroud off, so i can try to break the stuck piston free.

outboard jet, driveshaft and bearing install. installed new bearing on driveshaft new lower seals in the carrier, then installed driveshaft along with upper seal housing and secured in place with snapping.

Honda BF90 fuel leak. Customer states it’s leaking out of the bolt and leaving a sheen in the water. after starting it up and running it, I found fuel leaking out of the overflow vent, which is right in front of the bolt head he was talking about. remove VST installed new needle valve and chamber gasket and the fuel leak is fixed.

New upper and lower seal installation outboard jet bearing carrier. Bearing was rough feeling after removing the water pump looking for the noise it had running. New seals and bearing and back together.

Fuel issue from sitting in storage. Make sure your fuel is properly treated when storing your boat and outboard. This is the outcome of untreated fuel.

A reminder to add fuel stabilizer every time you add fuel. This way the stabilizer is all the way through the fuel system. If the boat goes unused it’ll keep the whole fuel system protected. I recommend Yamaha Fuel stabilizer & conditioner plus.
Used continuously, it keeps fuel fresh and free of gum and varnish for up to one year of storage.
