Ever want see the guts? Last night we were deep into the electrical cabinet of number 12 to diagnose a transition problem! Over the course of 72 years the locomotive went through many rebuilds and changes often not being documented on electrical drawings.
Our problem was finding a relay called TR….. TR allows the locomotive to transition. What is transition? Think of it as shifting gears in your car but done electrically! You start in what’s called series, were the electric from the generator runs to the traction motors in series. It’s like being in first gear in your car. When you reach about 9 mph, the resistance in the motor starts becoming too high and you need to “shift gears”. Locomotive transitions in now powers the traction motors through series parallel to overcome the resistance!

Well, we found the missing relay and are about 95% of the way to solving the problem!
Back at it today for some test runs and trials!

We’ve got another “Moonlight Moonshine Express” lined up for August 28th, so we hope you can join us!!

Ride our train to LaMothe Landing during sunset for fireside fun, drinks and live music by Ernie Sites!

Our friends at Fossil Stone Vineyards will be on hand selling a variety of drinks including moonshine, wine and beer. Guests get to keep a complimentary SC&H souvenir wine glass too!

The train will stop at LaMothe Landing for 2 hours before returning to Corinth under the full moon, don’t miss out on this special train!

This coming Friday we’re gearing up for another popular SASQUATCH EXPRESS!!

Come see what all the buzz is about by going on an exciting Sasquatch themed adventure!

Passengers ride to “Camp Kings”, and will be greeted by our friends Bob and Deb with "Project Footprint." They've invited us to tour their trackside camp and learn about a mysterious Bigfoot lurking around the Greenfield, NY area.

Fire Mission Smokehouse & Taproom will be on hand serving some delicious pulled pork and mac n’ cheese in a souvenir SC&H tin cup, and kids can get a “Sasquatch Express Explorers Kit” at Corinth station to join in on the expedition.

Don’t wait to get your tickets because these trains fill up FAST, and summer is winding down soon!

After all, could you be one of the lucky passengers to finally see a SASQUATCH up close?!!

This past weekend the railway got flocked!!

For our friends living around Corinth, you may have noticed dozens of pink flamingos moving all across town from yard to yard over the last few weeks. At first it might look like nothing more than cute yard decorations, but there’s much more to it!

The “Flock A Friend” Fundraiser helps raise funds for the Corinth High School’s Class of 2027 senior events, so people can help out by sending flocks of flamingos to their friends yards!!

Now it’s important to note that when you donate to send a flock around town, the receiver of these tropical birds does not know who sent them, only through certain clues can they guess. Funny enough, you can also pay to remove the flock immediately if you were flocked, or get “Flocking Insurance” which guarantees the flamingos won’t wander over to your place!!

Although these flamingos have now gone off to their next landing pad, it’s a great idea by our friends and we love to see creative ideas like this going around town. There’s still a few days left to participate, so contact our friend Amanda Dearborn to learn more!

Albany Port #12 is home and will lead tonight’s 7pm beer and wine train!!! Come out and get your pictures!

We would like to thank Albany Port Railroad and CPKC for helping us get this locomotive home.

Originally built as an SW900 with 1200hp in 1953 for the Pennsylvania Railroad. This locomotive served Conrail and later the Albany Port Railroad.

Well that’s another Caboose Day in the books! 🚂

Yesterday we were happy to participate in The Town of Greenfield Historical Society’s 16th Annual “Caboose Day” at historic Kings Station.

Visitors were able to tour the station and caboose, check out the vendors, grab a bite to eat and enjoy our different train rides during the event.

All Aboard for CABOOSE DAY on August 8th!!

Train tickets $5 for kids & $10 for adults on "The Greenfield Flyer"!!

This exclusive train will depart from Kings Station to LaMothe Landing and return for a 45-minute round trip. Greenfield Flyer runs at 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm & 2 pm.

Some road testing with 4085 today, still lots of kinks to work out but everyday is progress! This locomotive sat for over 15 years and it will soon be pulling trains again! Today we worked out some starting issues and replaced some electrical contacts. Old wiring is being replaced and updated. Our good friend Don Colangelo has been helping us get things get things worked out!

4085 was built in 1952 for the Delaware & Hudson Railway and served right here on the Adirondack Branch! Learn more about the D&H by joining Delaware & Hudson Railway Historical Society

Thanks to TOYX Operation Toy Train, this locomotive was saved from being scrapped!
