Big Ups Daily Dose Family!

I’ve got a confession to make… I absolutely LOVE reggae music!

It’s my favorite genre of music, and once those reggae vibes start flowing, something just happens to my soul. The rhythm, the bass, the message, the laid-back groove—it’s medicine for me!
But every now and then, I suffer from a serious condition called REGGAE MYLITIS! 😂

The symptoms are easy to recognize: I start craving that bass line, looking for my reggae playlist, feeling the rhythm in my spirit, and wanting to be surrounded by nothing but good reggae music!

And there’s only ONE known cure for this condition:
A GOOD REGGAE FESTIVAL!

Give me some sunshine, good people, positive vibes, and some sweet reggae music, and I’ll be alright!

Reggae isn’t just music to me—it’s a feeling!

Jesus Will Fix It

At 2:35 a.m., I was wide awake with the song “He’ll Fix It” by Tim Rogers playing in my mind. It’s times like this that I believe the Holy Spirit is delivering a special message to me, so I hurriedly have to get the message out of my head so I can go back to sleep.

You see, my dad, William V. Porter, was a man who could fix almost anything. If something was broken, Daddy had a way of figuring it out. I had confidence in him because I knew that if Daddy said he could fix it, somehow, someway, he would.

As I thought about that this morning, I realized something: I need to have that same confidence in my Heavenly Father.

Just as my earthly father had the ability to fix things that were broken, my Heavenly Father has the ability to fix the broken areas of my life.

There are some things I may not know how to fix. Some situations are beyond my ability. Some problems may have me wondering, “How in the world am I going to get through this?”

But Jesus is reminding me: “I can fix it.”

I simply have to trust Him.
Sometimes we spend so much time trying to figure out how Jesus is going to fix it that we forget that our responsibility is simply to have faith in the One who can.

Daddy taught me confidence through what he could do with his hands. Jesus is teaching me confidence through what He can do with my life.

So today, whatever is broken, whatever is troubling you, whatever seems impossible to repair, put it in the hands of Jesus.

Jesus will fix it!

Now I can go back to sleep.

“Don’t miss the message while trying to figure out the Messenger.™ Y’all better stay with me—I’m going somewhere with these inspirations. Have a fantastic Friday. Let’s go!”

The Daily Dose: Command the morning

Job 38:12
In that verse, God asks Job, "Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place?

”This wasn’t a literal instruction for Job to control the sunrise—it was a divine challenge.

God was reminding Job of His sovereignty and creative power. Job had questioned God’s justice amid suffering, so the Lord responded by revealing how vast His authority truly is—even over the rhythm of day and night.

Spiritually, many believers interpret this verse as a call to speak life and authority into each new day. "Commanding the morning” symbolizes aligning your words and faith with God’s will at the start of the day—declaring blessings, peace, and purpose before anything else can take shape.

In short, God's question showed Job his human limits. Our response today turns that awareness into action — using prayer and confession to set the tone for the day.

Have a spirit-filled Sunday.

Many people spend hours in the gym exercising their muscles so they can become stronger. On some days they focus on their arms, while on other days they work on their legs, chest, or back. The goal is simple: strengthen the muscles that will help them perform at their best.

The same principle applies to our spiritual lives.

Before you can strengthen your spiritual gift, you must first know what your gift is. God has uniquely equipped each of us with gifts and talents to serve His Kingdom. Just as physical muscles become weak when they are not used, spiritual gifts become stronger when they are exercised.

In the physical world, some people rely on workout programs like Body by Jake to develop stronger muscles. But when it comes to building spiritual muscles, we need a different program—Body by Jesus. His Word is our training manual. Prayer is our conditioning exercise. Faith is our endurance training. Obedience is our daily workout.

In Romans 12, Paul identifies several spiritual gifts:

Prophecy
Serving
Teaching
Encouraging (Exhortation)
Giving
Leadership
Mercy

Each gift has a purpose, and every believer has been given at least one gift to help build up the body of Christ. The more we use our gifts, the stronger they become and the greater impact they have on those around us.

As I finish writing this inspiration, I must admit that it has made me a little tired because I've been exercising my mental muscles. Yet I am reminded that growth only comes through use. Whether physical, mental, or spiritual, muscles become stronger when they are exercised consistently.

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them." — Romans 12:6

So here's today's Daily Dose question:

Do you know what your spiritual gift is?

Stay tuned for the Do you know your spiritual gift(s) series starting Thursday, July 30th.

Have a terrific Tuesday.
Let's go!

The Daily Dose

Full coverage insurance:
I Gotcha Covered

Today, I got a powerful reminder that God is always watching over us.

I had just returned home after paying my power bill when I heard a BIG BOOM!

A few moments later, my mail carrier called and asked, "Did you know a huge tree limb just fell and knocked your power line down? Sparks were flying everywhere!"

I said, thanks for letting me know. I thought that a transformer had gone out.

I then contacted the power company, and they assured me that a crew would be there as soon as possible.

As I stood there taking it all in, one thought kept running through my mind: Thank You, Jesus! That limb could have easily fallen on my house.

During the last ice storm, I had several limbs trimmed away from the roof, and today I realized just how important that decision had been.

When the lineman arrived to replace the power line, he looked at me and said, "You are lucky."

I simply pointed toward the sky. At first, he didn't understand what I meant.
Then I told him, "Jesus is my best friend."

What he didn't know is that every day I plead the blood of Jesus over my home, my vehicles, and my body. I ask the Lord to station His angels around my property and to fill everything I own with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

That's what I call full coverage insurance!

Some people have Allstate insurance. I have Jesus Insurance. His policy never expires, His protection never fails, and His love never runs out.

Now, don't misunderstand me. We still need to use wisdom. It looks like I'll be calling someone to trim a few more tree limbs. Faith and common sense go hand in hand.

Today's experience reminded me that while we can't stop every storm, we can trust the One who stands with us through every storm.

So today, take a moment to thank God for the things that didn't happen. Thank Him for the accidents He prevented, the dangers you never saw, and the countless times He covered you when you didn't even realize you needed His protection.

All I can say is…

Thank You, Jesus!
"He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." — Psalm 91:11 (KJV)

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

I'm grateful no one was hurt and that the damage was limited to the power line. It's a powerful testimony of gratitude and faith.

As I sit here thanking the Lord, I have to add this to my post.

Around 8:00 a.m., I was outside torching weeds beneath the very large tree branch that later fell around 11:00 a.m. As I think about it now, I realize that branch could have easily fallen on me.

What seemed like an ordinary morning became a powerful reminder that God's protection is often at work even when we don't see it. Today, I'm especially grateful for His covering, His timing, and His grace. Thank You, Lord, for watching over me.
