The suffocating heat and the shift to westerly winds brought swarms of biting flies inland, and as a result, the horses have been seeking the cool, soothing comfort of the ocean. (Our tour guide extraordinaire, Tom, cinching his postseason career as a wildlife photographer, here)
Breathtaking to witness, even for us. But please keep in mind how frustrating this is for the horses.
Give. them. space!! Keep AT LEAST 50 feet away from the horses at all times. Allow them to move freely along the shoreline without crowding them. (This season, we have witnesed far too many guests crowding and interfering with the harems --Yeah, we're looking directly at you, beach proposal family.)
Miles and miles and miles of beach-- there's plenty of room for all of us to enjoy it safely.
