π£ Why is Monday an excellent day for fishing ?
Monday, October 19, 2026, is shaping up to be an excellent day for fishing across the Coastal Bend, according to the solunar fishing forecast. The biggest reason is the timing of the moon, sunrise and the major feeding periods.
π The moon is working in our favor !
We're coming off Sunday's First Quarter Moon and moving into the Waxing Gibbous phase. The moon will be approximately 60% illuminated Monday, and its position creates two major solunar feeding periods when fish are predicted to become more active.
π
The morning bite is the big attraction !
Monday's morning major feeding period falls around 7:10 AM to 9:10 AM, almost perfectly aligned with sunrise at approximately 7:30 AM. This overlap makes the early morning hours particularly promising for Redfish, Speckled Trout and other predatory fish searching for an easy breakfast.
π Another feeding opportunity after sunset !
The evening major period runs approximately 7:33 PM to 9:33 PM. With sunset around 6:55 PM, this creates another promising feeding window as darkness settles over the Coastal Bend.
π What about the tides ?
Monday's tidal coefficient is only 32, which falls into the LOW category. That means weaker astronomical tidal movement, so fishermen should concentrate around channels, cuts, deeper guts and other areas where even a little moving water can concentrate baitfish.
π What should fishermen target ?
Redfish around Packery Channel, the Port Aransas jetties and shoreline drains. Speckled Trout along grass edges and deeper guts. Pompano, Whiting and Black Drum along Padre Island and Mustang Island beaches.
π£ The Beach Bum bottom line !
Monday earns its excellent solunar rating because of favorable lunar timing, especially that morning feeding period overlapping sunrise. But remember, an excellent fishing forecast doesn't guarantee an excellent catch. Wind, water clarity, surf conditions and finding the baitfish still matter.
Get out early, find some moving water, locate the bait and make those casts count ! Even the best fishing forecast won't help if you're still home drinking coffee at 10 AM !
