🚢 There’s a big difference between taking a cruise…and experiencing one through the eyes of a travel advisor.

This was me in the Caribbean, I was sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas with a group I had booked for my clients.

One of the things I love about working in the travel industry is that the learning never really stops.

Travel advisors have opportunities to experience ships, resorts and destinations firsthand, participate in ship inspections and industry training, attend seminars at sea, meet with travel suppliers, and continually learn the products we're recommending to our clients.

Because there are things you simply can't learn from looking at a website.

Which neighborhood on the ship is best for a particular family?
What cabin location might work better for a client?
What's actually within walking distance onboard?
What would I recommend for a multigenerational group versus a couple?

Those are the kinds of details that come from education, training and experience.

And when you're coordinating group travel, understanding the product becomes even more important.

I spent more than 30 years in photography before entering the travel industry, so I certainly didn't start out knowing any of this. I learned it.

Seven years later, I'm still learning.

And that's one of my favorite things about this industry. ✈️🌎🚢

"Discover the Wonders of the Ocean

As we explored the stunning beaches near our home in Laguna Beach, CA, we stumbled upon a fascinating sight - tiny, clear shellfish-like creatures washing up on the shore. But what caught our attention was where they came from: the mesmerizing "Little Sailors" that float on the ocean!

These bright blue, sail-backed wonders that are called Villely Villely are cousins to jellyfish and are a true marvel of nature.

It's moments like these that remind us of the incredible beauty and diversity of our world, and the importance of exploring and learning about new things.
