It’s spooky season, so let’s talk about ghosts. 👻

Our first call went great. You told me about the anniversary trip, the castle you’ve had saved since 2019, and how your partner “doesn’t really do early mornings.” I listened. I took notes. I built you a carefully curated itinerary that fits your personality perfectly.

And then… silence.

Here’s the thing. You’re allowed to change your mind. Budgets shift. Dates fall apart. Life happens. A two-line “not right now” is all I need, and I’ll keep your ideas on file for when the timing works.

I can't advise if I haven't been.
Every country on this list taught me something a brochure can't: which train connection is worth the extra hour, which "must-see" is really a must-skip, where to eat when everything near the main square is overpriced, and which mistakes I made so you don't have to.

That's what you're getting when you book with me. Not a search engine with a smile, but someone who's stood in that line, missed that ferry, and found the better option.

And yes, Alaska gets "(a lot)." becasue some places you visit, some places you keep going back to until you know them by heart.

**UPDATE**
Out of the office September 12–24: first on a Danube River cruise, then in Munich for Oktoberfest!

You might be thinking, "Marissa, water levels on the Danube have been historically low this year — these cruises have turned into more bus than boat." You'd be right.

I didn't push my dates or cancel. I'm going anyway. Reading about water level disruptions in Facebook groups isn't a place to advise from — I want to see it myself: how this line handles it, how they communicate when plans change, how they make it right when the trip isn't the one you booked. I already know this sailing means ship swaps, different embarkation ports, and updates as we go.

Same advice I'd give a client facing this: stay open, take it in, make the most of it. I'm doing exactly that — and coming back with real answers for anyone wondering if a Danube cruise is still worth booking this year.

Munich is new territory for me too. Oktoberfest has been on my list for a while, dirndl included.

A letter to me...from me...

One year ago I attended the Future Leaders in Travel conference, in Anchorage, Alaska. They had us write a postcard to our future selves and mine arrived today!

I haven't exactly focused my business on Alaska as much as you can see I would have liked to, mostly out of fear and doubt. As I read this letter from myself today, and after having just returned from my 5th visit to Alaska, I'm reminded of why I wanted to focus my travel service around Alaska.

I am inspired again to design custom experiences to this wild destination that you cannot find anywhere else!

Alaska as a focus will be a priority for 2027 and there are amazing trips I am dreaming up as I type this! Custom designed itineraries from scratch, no brochures, no 40 person coach buses, just a small group of travelers experiences a destination in a way you can not book anywhere else!

Again! This time I am grateful to be invited by Holland America Line to experience their Round-trip Seattle sailing visiting Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Victoria, BC!

Ya'll know how much I LOVE Alaska, and I can not wait to see what the landscape and wildlife activity looks like in August! You also know I'm personally not a big ship cruiser, so with under 1,900 capacity, I am very curious how this small big ship experience actually feels! It could be the perfect fit for cruising Alaska!
