Aircraft owners are ultimately responsible for the airworthiness of their aircraft. You should know when recurring AD compliance is due on any airframe, engine, propeller, or appliance. This information should be readily available. Flying and being unaware is potentially breaking the law. The following AD became effective 5 Dec 24. One other note. Some of the most reputable engine overhaulers fall short in my opinion when it comes to log book entries. When having an overhaul done, you should have EVERY part number, serial/ number, and possibly even production date on parts in your engine. Not having this means potentially having to disassemble your engine in the future to determine applicability of an AD.

If an Airworthiness Directive is not properly signed off, it has not been completed. If the aircraft is brought to me for inspection, I will be forced by law to repeat the entire inspection process. As an owner it is YOUR responsibility to understand and ensure compliance with all applicable ADs on YOUR aircraft. And you should know when next compliance is due. This includes airframe, engine, propeller and ALL accessories.
A sign off requires: AD number, issue or revision date, method of compliance, findings( serviceable or not), and next compliance due. Saying “AD12-34-56 complied with” does not satisfy regulations. Before shopping for any aircraft you should understand the ADs applicable to it. Please contact me before purchasing any aircraft that you do not fully understand ADs on.
