Clay gravel or crusher run?

Clay gravel's fines let it lock in a crown and shed water, which is why it works well on a new build where you're shaping grade from scratch.

Crusher run's tighter gradation compacts to a denser, more load-bearing surface, which is why it's the go-to when you're building up or resurfacing an existing base.

Mixing the two in layers is common on bigger jobs: clay gravel to establish grade, crusher run on top for the wearing surface.

If you're speccing for heavier traffic or trying to cut down on rework, that combination is worth a conversation before you order.

A gravel or sand delivery moves fast once the truck is on site, so a little prep keeps everyone safe and the job on schedule.

Here's what we tell every customer before delivery day:

🚗 Clear the drop area of cars, trailers, and anything that can't get dusty.
📍 Mark the exact spot with a stake or spray paint.
📏 Check for overhead clearance so the bed can raise all the way.
🐾 Keep kids and pets away from the truck and the drop zone.
👋 Be around if you can, so the driver can confirm placement before dumping.
