General information
The Cudahy Fire Department was founded in 1902 as a volunteer fire department in the city of Cudahy, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Today the Cudahy Fire Department (CFD) is a 25 member fully paid fire department. The CFD operates out of two fire stations and serves a diverse poplulation of nearly 19,000 residents within an area of nearly 5 sq. miles. The city is covered by two fire stations. Each fire station operates a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance and a Fire Engine. Fire Station #2 also houses a 100' Ladder Truck. The fire department also has a rescue boat and Haz/Mat trailer along various other support apparatus. Cudahy firefighters work a "Chicago" schedule of 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty, without regard to weekends and holidays. Cudahy firefighters are trained to "cross staff" the fire apparatus and ambulances, and determine which appartus to respond in depending on the type of emergency call. The Cudahy Professional Fire Fighters Local 1801 are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin (PFFW).
