I (Stacey) just came across this from a leadership class assignment I wrote about a year ago, before The Circle was ever dreamt up (by us anyway)!

My favorite place in the world is in a circle of friends who will sing and pray with me to hear God and then act on what He said. To then see this circle of worship, prayer, and obedience spread to an entire congregation would be my dream. Long have I pictured a corporate gathering that is not faced toward a stage but arranged in a giant circle, where everyone has an equal place around the centered presence of Jesus. Whether a person brings a word, a song, a prayer, or nothing at all, a seat of equality and inclusion is held for all, not because of what they bring but because of who they are in Christ. Churches who will not give themselves over to worship and prayer—lingering for as long as it takes while Jesus accomplishes his purposes for that meeting—will not ever drip with the oil of intimacy that our world so desperately needs to see.

When we have communal intimacy through worship, prayer, and obedience, we are then ready for cultural relevance...
