Looking for a place to fly, come out and join us today for our monthly EAA gathering.

Our next EAA 1522 chapter gathering will be tomorrow, Sunday, September 27 at 2:30pm at the Cynthiana Airport. Our speakers this month will be Bob Jones and daughter Emily Herron. Bob and Emily own a Piper Cub that has been in their family for 70+ years spanning multiple generations. Come join us to hear the unique history of their airplane. In addition, the weather looks great for flying Young Eagles afterward. Everyone welcome! We hope to see you tomorrow!

Looking for a great excuse to fly somewhere this September? Join us at Rough River Airport (2I3) for the 52nd Annual EAA Sport Aviation Weekend, September 11–13, 2026!

This is always a great weekend to get out, enjoy some flying, and spend time with fellow pilots and aviation enthusiasts at beautiful Rough River Lake.

🛩️ Pilots: Arrivals begin Friday at 3:00 PM
🏕️ Camp right beside your airplane or bring the RV
🍔 Food & drinks available on site
🎟️ 50/50 raffle
✈️ Aviation activities & aircraft to explore
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly and open to the public!

The airport features a 3,200-ft paved runway, and all aircraft are welcome. Please note that fuel is not available on the field, so plan accordingly.

Make a day of it or stay for the entire weekend! Rough River Lodge is nearby, and camping is available right at the airport.

Due to the forecast for inclement weather across Kentucky Saturday morning and the Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) affecting two of our participating airports, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Poker Run and Cookout.

We hope to reschedule the event and will share a new date as soon as possible.

A plane experienced a loss of power and was forced to conduct an emergency landing in a field just short of the runway. Following the landing, the aircraft caught fire. There were no reported injuries to the pilot.
