Due to the forecast for inclement weather across Kentucky Saturday morning and the Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) affecting two of our participating airports, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Poker Run and Cookout.

We hope to reschedule the event and will share a new date as soon as possible.

A plane experienced a loss of power and was forced to conduct an emergency landing in a field just short of the runway. Following the landing, the aircraft caught fire. There were no reported injuries to the pilot.

Due to the inclement weather forecast for Saturday, we have made the decision to cancel our Young Eagles rally on June 27. We hope to reschedule later in the year. We appreciate your understanding. The safety of our passengers and pilots is our highest priority.

We're planning a special Discovery Event for Capital City Airport and Danville-Boyle County Airport for the months of June and July!

Join us for ground school, flight simulation, and time at the controls of an actual aircraft as you take to the skies with one of our Certificated Flight Instructors! But that's not all - participants receive the opportunity to apply for one of our flight training scholarships, with our next selection taking place in August 2026.

Dalton Wells began his aviation journey as a Young Eagle during the 2018 event at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Airport. Following that first flight, Dalton returned to the airport more than 10 times to participate in various aviation events and activities that would eventually lead to more Young Eagles flights.

In 2021, Dalton was awarded the EAA - The Spirit of Aviation Ray Aviation Scholarship, helping him pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. Within the following year, he earned his Private Pilot Certificate in a single-engine airplane and by 2024, Dalton had already given back to the program by flying 44 Young Eagles and inspiring the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.

Continuing to advance his aviation knowledge and skills, Dalton earned both his Tailwheel Endorsement and Commercial Pilot Certificate in 2025. The airport is proud to announce that yesterday Dalton completed his Flight Instructor Certification and is now able to share the joy of flight with others as a certified flight instructor.
