I see so many questions about custom fitting garments! I developed this chart to help when choosing or sizing a pattern. I also use it when I do "long distance" garment construction. When I have a client's measurements, I adjust one of my dress forms to those specs. Then, during construction it's like I have them right in the room for a fitting. This has been a very successful process. Several of the costumes pictured here were made this way. Makes the customer and stitcher very happy. I should add photos w/* to ID items made using this process.

It seems now that I cut my vintage pattern teeth on mainly the Civil War period, in recent years WWI and WWII German uniform patterns have surpassed the Civil War requests. I was able to draft patterns from original uniforms. WWI originals were loaned by the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola FL and several original WWII German from a private collector. I then added a few more patterns from the same time period using a few original pieces in my collection.
