Danforth volunteer F.D has had the opportunity with some donation money to purchase this 22ft long nitro snowsled trailer to put our sleds and rescue sled with some ice water rescue gear in to keep it all together in case we need it! We are a small department but we have some nice stuff to work with! Special thanks to the Snow Family!

The Fire Danger is High locally and across most of the state. There is still no open burning. Permits are not available till further notice.

‼️Fire Danger is HIGH and MODERATE Across the State of Maine‼️

August 20, 2025

🔥The Maine Forest Service has responded to multiple wildfires over the past two weeks. Thanks to the hard work of firefighters, fire departments and Forest Rangers, wildfire spread has been kept to a minimum. The fire danger today is MODERATE to HIGH around the state.

🔥Conditions vary across the State of Maine depending on where you are located, but fires are still occurring, and forest fuels are still available to burn even though we received rainfall. Yesterday’s dry breeze helped residual moisture evaporate quickly. Even though we have received rainfall over the past 72 hours, it varied drastically around the State of Maine. Some areas received significant rainfall while some areas saw little to none.

🔥Make sure you consult with your local Fire Department, Town Warden, or local Forest Ranger before conducting ANY open burning. In many parts of the state, local authorities and private landowners have implemented restrictions to open burning based on fire danger.

🔥Northern portions of the state have received enough rainfall recently that open burning can be done safely in many areas. The online open burning permit system remains shut off in central and southern portions of the state. The Maine Forest Service will not be issuing any open burning permits in those areas.

🔥We urge you to be fire conscious when you are out recreating and enjoying all Maine has to offer. With your help we can help keep Maine green!🌲
