We stayed overnight near Nashville and then we were on the road early. We happened to pass a Buc-ee’s, so of course we had to stop in.

Passed through Kentucky and then into Indiana to our final destination in Decatur, Indiana.

Our service appointment is on Tuesday so we will do some side trips to keep us occupied.

Took a plant tour of the Fleetwood RV Manufacturing facility. We saw the manufacturing process of RV’s from the chassis build to final prep and delivery. RV brands include Fleetwood (which is our coach), Holiday Rambler, and American Coach.

Half of the plant is for diesel rv’s (which ours is) and the other half is for gas rv’s.

The tour was 2 1/2 hours and was very interesting to see how it all comes together to get an RV produced.

We are back to “Camp Decatur” to get our yearly maintenance and some warranty work done on the RV in Decatur, Indiana.

The Tipton County Pork Festival is one of the original festivals to the State of Indiana with over 50 years.

We listened to 2 bands - Second Chance Band and Crush: Bon Jovi Experience Tribute Band.

If you ever get a chance to see Crush it is a great experience!

And yes, the pork chops were fantastic!

Founded in 1867 and originally called Harrisburg, the discovery of natural gas in the area prompted the name change in 1892. However, as of 2022, much the gas is depleted. The street signs around the town are shaped as oil derricks.

There is a Garfield statue here called Glass Blower Garfield in honor of the natural gas boom.

Visited the museum at the Indianapolis Speedway.

The racetrack was built in 1909 by Carl Fisher as a means to test cars before delivering them to consumers. The first event held at the speedway was a gas-filled competition in June 1909. In August 1909, the first 250-mile race had race leader Louis Chevrolet temporarily blinded when a stone smashed in his goggles.

Because of safety concerns for the track, bricks were added to the surface. Locals named the track “The Brickyard”. Today, 3 feet of the original bricks remain exposed at the start-finish line.

The museum houses prior trophies, memorabilia, and former racing cars.

The museum will me undergoing a renovation and closing November 2023 and reopening April 2025.

We visited the state capital of Indiana in Indianapolis.

Built in 1888 at a construction cost of under $2 million. The interior is Italian Renaissance Revival style with locally used limestone and hardwoods including white oak, walnut, maple, and cherry.

A bust of Benjamin Harrison on the second floor is to honor the only U.S. President from Indiana. Also on the second floor is the office of the Governor - Eric Holcomb , which we got to tour.

The Statehouse is one of a few capitals that houses the Supreme Court along with the House and Senate.
